Gender Diversity Expert, Parent Whisperer & Speaker
Rachel Hulstein-Lowe, MSW, LICSW
I am trained as a clinical social worker and have been a clinician in private practice in the Metrowest Boston area since 2010. Through play, talk and humor, I support anxious kids, anxious teens and anxious parents. As the parent of an enby teen and with 10 years of professional experience, I have expertise supporting trans, nonbinary, and gender expansive youth and adults.
I endeavor to work with all clients as a compassionate witness. My clients are the experts of their own experience. My role is to empathically listen and facilitate each individual’s or family’s desire to improve the quality of their lives. I work relationally and mindfully, with a keen interest in exploring intersectionality, systemic challenges, and the associated stress. I am a cis, white, hetero woman. My office is located on the stolen lands of the Pawtucket tribe of MA.
I obtained my B.A. from Truman State University (MO) and my M.S.W. from Smith College School for Social Work. I worked in child and adolescent mental health, dual-diagnosis recovery services, and program development in Northern California and London, England prior to starting my own business. I continue to consult and write about these populations and ways of working.
Where you can find me:
I see clients in person at my office in Needham, MA, as well as virtually. Because of the nature of the work, I meet with kids under the age of 12 exclusively in person. I hold licensure to practice in MA, RI, and MI.
